LAP Bargaining update #5

Our team has four more meetings left with the state. It is vital that you complete the survey so that your voice is heard while can still act on your priorities. Complete the survey by 6/30/2026 HERE.
Many of our topics are specific to L&I and your team needs your support. You can lend you voice and support by Emailing L&I & OFM to tell them to fix the inherently unfair rules they have established for LAP payments. This is also an opportunity to let L&I know how You can send the email HERE. Since June 11th our Union has constantly been making L&I aware of the issues related to the SOSi/wordbridge app update fiasco. Send the email above and take some time to let L&I know how the app update has impacted you.
We met again on Monday 6/22 for 2027-2029 negotiations and were met with proposals from the State that refuse to address our concerns.
- The State refuses to take any responsibility for discriminatory actions by coordinating entities and providers;
- The State refuses the hold the coordinating entities responsible for making necessary information available to you regarding your assignments available on their platforms;
- Insists that both the State and our Union only utilize costly avenues for our grievances all while insisting that there is no money.
- The State is either incapable of understanding or indifferent to an interpreters duties under the Code of Professional Conduct for Interpreters (WAC 388 03 050) and conditions where they should and must withdraw from an encounter. The State’s lack of understanding and indifference is also true for a LAP’s duties and obligations when interpreting for legal proceedings (AOC Standards of Practice and Ethics).
We will continue to have these important conversations and will be gearing up to introduce our proposals related to rates of compensation between now and July 6th. Stay tuned for future updates and ways to support our bargaining team.
