TO LIST YOUR SHARED LEAVE REQUEST

  • Once you’ve been approved by your agency or institution, AFSCME Council 28 (WFSE) can place shared leave requests for union members here.
  • To make a request, send your information to [email protected]. Please include HR or PR contact's full name and phone number so donors know how to make the donation.
  • Donations of unused annual leave, sick leave or all or part of personal holidays can be made.
  • In all cases, agencies or institutions must approve requests to donate and receive shared leave.

ABOUT USSLP:

The 2007 Legislature created a Uniformed Service Shared Leave Pool (USSLP) to allow employees to donate leave for any employee who has been called to service in the uniformed services and who meets the shared leave requirements. IN NEED OF SHARED LEAVE: Dawn Riewer,  a IT specialist 4 with Emploment Securities Department, in Lacey and a member Local 443 has requested donations of Shared Leave to cover the time she is out caring for her disabled mother, who has a ovarian cancer and her father, who  has been hospitalize since March 27 when he was dianosed with septic shock and is recovering in an acute care center in Seattle. IN NEED OF SHARED LEAVE: Karen Campbell, an administrative assistant 4 with DOC in Olympia and a member of 443 is requesting donations of Shared Leave to cover the time she will be out caring for her unmarried son, Ray, while he recovers from his second back surgery in 4 years. The surgeon estimates a recovery time of approximately six months.  Karen is hoping to be able to be there for the first four weeks of his recovery. IN NEED OF SHARED LEAVE: Stephany Newman, a senior secretary in the Medical Department at the DSHS Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island and a member of Local 793 is requesting donations of Shared Leave.  Stephany needs shared leave to be able to care for her husband, who now needs 24/7 care due to having a devastating and debilitating stroke on Thanksgiving Day. The stroke left him without the use of his leg, foot, arm, and speech. There is no expected return to work date for Stephany at this time.
