LAP Bargaining update #3

Our bargaining team needs to hear from you, there is still time to take the survey complete it HERE.
There is also time to support your bargaining team by telling L&I to change their rules and hold self-insured employers accountable by sending a letter HERE
Our team met with the state for the second time on Monday June 8th.
- We continued to discuss added protections against arbitrary and discriminatory behavior by coordinating entities and providers;
- We met resistance to our proposals related to DES given DES’s administrative structure which does not support interpreting services. This will make this year’s bargaining challenging related to gains for DES interpreters.
- We discussed LAP’s voice in the state’s obligations related to certification and credentialing requirements. We made preserving our voice in the Interpreter Advisory Group and expending it related to credentials for interpreting in a legal setting a priority.
We meet again on June 15th where will continue to have these important discussions. We are also eagerly awaiting the next report by the state Economic Revenue Forecast Council, which is anticipated by mid to late June after which we will introduce our economic proposals on July 2nd. Stay tuned for future updates and ways to support our bargaining team.
In solidarity,
Your LAP Bargaining Team
