LAP Bargaining update #3

There is still time to take the survey let our LAP bargaining team know what is important to you HERE.
There is also still time to tell L&I and OFM to hold self-insured employers accountable and support our team’s efforts by sending a letter HERE.
Our team met with The office of financial management (OFM) and representatives of L&I, DSHS, DCYF, HCA, and DES for the third time on Monday 6/15 where:
- We made very little progress in our negotiations with OFM and found the day’s conversations to be tedious and frustrating. OFM proved to be either unwilling to accept or willfully ignorant to the realities many LAPs experience on a daily basis.
- Near the end of the day our Team was able to make the OFM negotiator begrudgingly become aware of the reality of the LAP experience, spoken language interpreting services and the basis for our concerns and CBA proposals.
- Our team in caucus worked feverishly to craft our responses to OFM and continued to prepare our economic proposals;
Slowly the state is coming to understand the realities for many interpreters and together we will make a difference. We meet with the state next on June 22nd where will continue to have these important discussions. Stay tuned for future updates and ways to support our bargaining team.
In solidarity,
Your LAP Bargaining Team
