What We’re Looking For:

The WFSE is recruiting to fill an Associate position in the Olympia Field Office. This position works to prepare correspondence and reports, triage incoming phone calls, perform data entry using various databases, and assist Council Representatives and the Field Supervisor with administrative functions. Associates are key positions that require excellent communication skills, problem solving skills and the ability to use good judgment in evaluating situations. The Associate helps develop and implement internal office procedures and recommends changes in procedures or rules to facilitate effectiveness. This position must utilize good decision making skills while working with sensitive material and maintaining confidentiality.

Typical Work:

  • Create worksite lists & log event attendance in various data bases.
  • Maintain case file and track status to keep Labor Advocates/Council Representatives apprised of deadlines.
  • Prepares packets for position reallocations, steward notebooks, training packets, and Grievance Committee packets. Schedules various meetings and hearings for Council Representatives.
  • Assists with flyers, membership mailings, rally preparation work, and the bi-annual convention.
  • Coordinates and maintains grievance information in Labor Power & other record keeping systems.
  • Verifies accuracy of records and works with field staff to ensure proper documentation is recorded.
  • Confer with Labor Advocates/Council Representatives on case status and needs.
  • Prepare, proof and edit correspondence when requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of data entry experience.
  • Proficiency in typing and numeric key entry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills. Ability to handle difficult customers and find resources to answer questions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Special Note:

As a condition of employment, candidates who accept a position will be required to provide proof of vaccination from COVID-19. Additionally, it is expected that selected candidates live within commuting distance of their assigned work location. This position is overtime eligible and may be required to work some weekends. Some travel may be required.  Benefits include annual and sick leave, medical/dental, life, and long term disability insurance, and holidays. Salary range is $43,904 to $53,661 and will be determined commensurate with experience.
