On September 27, 2023, the WFSE sent a text message to some LNI Language Access Providers (LAPs) stating that, "Now that the union is certified, every interpreter needs to sign up to become a member."
To the extent this statement implied that LAPs were required to become members, that was inaccurate. No LAP may be required to become a WFSE member as a condition of employment. The statement was not intended to imply otherwise and the WFSE apologizes for any confusion it may have caused.
