IT Restructuring

Our union has provided information to help IT employees navigate the new IT structure. The new structure was implemented on July 1, 2019.

All IT employees should understand the new structure, documents necessary for appealing reallocation decisions, and important deadlines.

If you have any questions about your position or these changes, please contact the Member Connection Center at 1-833-MCC-WFSE (833-622-9373).

RESOURCES

APPEALING YOUR IT REALLOCATION

DETERMINE IF YOU WANT TO APPEAL: If your IT Position Description (PD) does not reflect the full scope of your work, you may want to appeal the decision. If your IT PD does accurately reflect the full scope of your duties, but you do not agree with your new IT job class determination, you may want to appeal. Please consider talking with your union council representative ([email protected]) before deciding whether to appeal. It would be wise to review the facts with your union representative before deciding.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR APPEALING

30 Days: Appeals (Request for Director’s Review) must be filed (received by the Director's Review Office) within 30 days from the date on your allocation determination letter. Contact the Member Connection Center for assistance with filing your appeal at (833) 622-9373.

90 Days: You have 90 days from the date you file your appeal to submit your argument along with supporting documents. If you need assistance, contact the Member Connection Center. If you filed an appeal prior to July 1, you still have 90 days from July 1 to submit your argument.

See IT Appeal Clinic for details on preparing your appeal.

CAPTURING IT WORK HISTORY

The IT Work Assessment Form and Guide are now available at the State OFM website here. This long-awaited form is a result of bargaining and is a critical tool for those who were in an abolished IT classification. Working conditions are impacted by your classification history, including layoff options, reversions, transfers, etc. For many IT employees their entire state career has been in classifications that are now abolished so the question becomes, what are your options? This is where the form comes in and why it is so important to complete now while your memory is fresh. The form was developed jointly by the parties based on language from the ITPS MOU.

  • This is for the employee to complete – it is not up to your manager or HR to review and approve the content.
  • The language in the layoff articles of GG & CCC has been modified to specifically require review of the form when determining options and comparability to the new structure. (Check the applicable contract specific language.)
