Two more good bills headed to governor after Senate concurrence votes

The Senate Tuesday morning (March 6) sent two more good bills affecting interpreters and Child Welfare Services members to the governor for his signature into law.

They came on concurrence votes where the Senate agreed to amendments tacked on in the House.

The Senate concurred with 2SSB 6245, the interpreter services expansion bill, on a vote of 32-16-1. It originally passed the Senate 31-16-2 and House 53-44-1.

And the Senate concurred with SB 6407 that among other things repeals the pilot project contracting out of Child Welfare Services in demonstration sites that was to begin in December 2019. The Senate concurrence vote was 49-0. It originally passed the Senate 47-0 and the House 97-0. SB 6407 was requested by the Department of Social and Health Services.

Both bills now go to Gov. Jay Inslee for his signature into law.

Compromise supplemental budget expected soon
