Colonial Life has been serving the needs of Washington State public sector employees via payroll deduction since 1961.
Colonial Life currently works with:
- More than 34 state governments
- More than 4,000 local governments
- More than 3,000 educational entities
- More than 10,000 Public Sector Accounts throughout the United States
Colonial Life says: “We offer what is most important to most employees — the security of knowing when they are hurt and can’t work…we are there for them.”
Plans include:
- Disability Insurance: Helps protect employees’ most valuable asset – their income. This insurance provides income to help offset the financial losses that can result when employees are unable to work due to injury or illness. Plans cover both on and off the job injuries. All benefits are paid in addition to any other insurance and paid directly to the employee — tax-free.
- Accident Insurance: Helps offset the direct and indirect expenses resulting from an accident such as co-payments, deductibles and other costs not covered by traditional health plans.
- Life Insurance: Can be a valuable complement to employer-provided life coverage, which terminates when employees leave or retire from state employment. Also these plans are portable, so employees can take their coverage with them if they change jobs or retire, with no increase in premium.
- Cancer & Critical Care Insurance: Helps pay the direct and indirect costs of cancer, heart attack, strokes and other types of catastrophic illnesses.
Representative of Colonial Life is available to provide educational information to WFSE/AFSCME members of these voluntary employee benefits.
