Hello, University of Washington Bargaining Unit members!

Your University of Washington Contract Negotiations Committee has been meeting this week to discuss our strategy going into what is sure to be an uphill battle during this bargaining season.

Bargaining Survey Updates

Thank you for filling out the bargaining survey; we have reviewed your responses and are focused on prioritizing your needs in every session.

The bargaining survey closes on June 30. Only responses from dues-paying members will be considered for contract negotiations. To join our union, click here.

So far, these are the topics of highest priority for your contract according to the survey (in no particular order):

·     Pay increases

·     Affordable healthcare

·     Expanded paid time off

·     Compensatory time and cash out

·     Performance issues/management accountability

·     Caseload/workload/staffing

·     Training/continuing education/tuition reimbursement

·     Hazard pay

Bargaining Forecast

We want to be clear: this is going to be a difficult contract campaign. Financially, all of Washington is in dire straits. The University of Washington is not going to give us anything easily. But we are still fighting for you. No matter what management throws at us, we are going to focus on improving the lives of our members.

We need you to help us show UW we’re fighting back. Our strength is not solely built at the bargaining table, it’s built in the ways we show up and tangibly show our support for one another.

Looking Ahead: Get Involved!

We have solidarity events coming up at several University of Washington locations. We need as many people showing up, wearing WFSE green, and making sure management sees that we’re standing strong together.

Please check if there is an event below that you can attend. Tell your coworkers, friends, and community supporters. The more visibility we have at these events, the more influence we have during bargaining.

Keep your eyes out for more events in the upcoming weeks.

June 24, 9:30 AM-6:30 PM at View Park (Harborview Medical Center): Local 3488 Membership and Bargaining Bonanza

June 26, 11 AM-1 PM at UW Medical Center – Montlake: Lunch and Learn

July 25, 2026: Local 1495 BBQ

Upcoming Bargaining Dates

We have our bargaining dates set. Our first bargaining date is coming up on June 25, 2026. Wear your WFSE green, direct your coworkers to the bargaining updates page, and keep an eye out for our communications post-bargaining.

Remember to wear green on bargaining days and WFSE Wednesdays to show solidarity.
