Yesterday, we arrived at the second of 10 scheduled negotiations sessions between your UW bargaining team and management for your 2027-29 union contract. After two weeks, management had nothing to present to us...

Seemingly, they’d done zero work to review and reply to the initial proposals we put across the table two full weeks ago. They didn’t have enough time, they said, because they were doing their own jobs.

We thought the job of Labor Relations at UW was to work with labor.

Our bargaining team has also been busy doing our jobs too, keeping hospitals and sprawling campuses safe and open to the public.

They said they wanted us to present our entire proposal for our 2027-29 union contract before they would present anything to us. So we left and went back to working on our proposals and encouraged them to do the same.

We told them we didn’t have anything to present until they’d done some work. They got the message and had some contract articles ready for us in the afternoon.

In the meantime, we planned some job actions to ensure they’ll come ready to work when we meet again on Monday, July 13th and at each session after that.

UW Hates Bad Press: Tell Your Story

What you’re paid, how much time you have off, your workload, your job security MATTER. Pressure is how we make it matter to management, too.

Every patient encounter begins and ends with a service worker. Every student depends on the work we do.

UW has $10 billion, but many workers can't afford rent.

UW cares a LOT about their image. Tell the students, patients, alumnus, and community members how you keep UW campuses, UW Medicine, and Harborview running and why you need to be treated with respect.
