Your GG Bargaining Team is Hard at Work

As we prepare to go to the table with OFM, your elected bargaining team gathered for several days of training and proposal vetting.

During training, bargaining team members learn their roles at the negotiating table, review important rules of bargaining, and get to know each other so they can show up with solidarity and strength as they fight for you.

Members shape every part of this process.

As WFSE President Mike Yestramski and Vice President Ashley Fueston explain in this handy video, the proposal vetting is an in-depth look at every bargaining proposal sent in by members.

The team sits down with a document reflecting all the proposals submitted. Your team sorted these proposals into several categories for follow up, depending on their content. Some proposals may ask for change that can’t happen at the bargaining table, ie legislative or legal changes. Other proposals may in fact already be in our contract, but are not getting enforced.

Sometimes we see proposals that were submitted in prior rounds of bargaining, but that we haven’t yet won. These repeat submissions also show your team how important those topics are to our membership.

What’s next?

These proposals will help guide your team in knowing what’s important when they go to the table with management.

Another important tool is the bargaining survey. This is another way to make sure your bargaining team is correctly prioritizing members’ top concerns, so please be sure to keep an eye out for it.

When bargaining does begin, you'll receive updates after each session.

  • Make sure we have your current contact info so we can keep you informed about bargaining as the process develops.

  • Join today. Not a member yet? Joining our union is one of the most powerful things you can do to get engaged and make sure our voices are heard at the bargaining table.

  • Connect with coworkers. Already a member? If you have committed to our union, talk to your coworkers about why it's important. Encourage them to join and build more power for public employees in Washington.

In solidarity,

Your GG Bargaining Team
