The opportunity to vote on the tentative agreement(TA) for your 2027-29 union contract ends soon.

Your contract determines:

  • How much you and your family pay for medical care
  • How much time you have off
  • Your job security
  • Your safety on the job
  • and much more

The language in your TA was proposed by, negotiated by, fought for, and endorsed by public workers like you.

If accepted by the membership, public workers will have:

  • More time off from work
  • A two-year ban on any layoffs caused by generative AI
  • The ability to negotiate for raises next summer

While there is no additional compensation in the first year, we defeated the second attempt in a year and a half to increase your healthcare costs, winning nearly $350 million in new funding to maintain the current arrangement, where the employer pays 85 percent of costs and we pay 15 percent.

The work isn’t done. We’re right back in the fight.

As public workers, there are two factors that heavily influence how much we can achieve during negotiations: the state budget and the strength of our membership.

If the agreement is accepted by the membership, we have less than a year to get as many members signed up and organized as possible before we fight for better pay again.

We have less than two months to convince as many of our coworkers as possible to vote NO on I-645, the billionaire-backed initiative that would repeal the Millionaires’ Tax and undercut our chances of winning better compensation next summer.

If accepted by the membership, our new protections from generative AI would give serious momentum to our years-long effort to pass the AI bargaining bill when the legislative session begins in January, less than four months away.

That legislation would apply to nearly all public workers, not just those covered by your contract. It would give us broader protections against AI and a real seat at the table in how it's adopted by state government.

The importance of public workers having a voice in this transformational technology can’t be understated, especially as federal funds dry up and our employers are pushed to cut costs.

Stick Together. Stay Union.

The same people who have spent decades trying to reduce your pay, cut your pension, and roll back your healthcare do not want to save you money.

You may have gotten a message from a group called Opt Out Today, a project of the anti-worker, billionaire-funded “Freedom” Foundation.

Maybe you’ve been annoyed by their junk mail and emails for years. Here's what they're really about.

Opt Out Today: Don't Fall for It

Nationwide, the “Freedom” Foundation works with legislators to shrink the public sector and reduce workers’ pay and benefits.

In worker-friendly states like ours, they’ve changed tactics and created Opt Out Today.

Instead of directly lobbying elected officials to slash public spending, they convince public workers to do their work for them by dropping their union.

Organized workers and our unions stand in the way of privatization, cuts, the erosion of our rights and safety at work, and more.

They don’t want to save you money.

They didn’t walk out of work on August 31st, or join us outside the Governor’s Mansion on Labor Day weekend.

our air and water deserve better

They didn’t join us at the Capitol when the State Senate tried to jack up our healthcare costs and take away our right to negotiate over healthcare.

Don’t fall for it.

Stick with your coworkers and the folks who depend on your work. Stay union strong.
