Thanks to incredible member turnout at Monday’s walkouts, YOU have forced movement on members’ non-economic priorities at the table—some of which we’ve been fighting for decades.
Your General Government bargaining team met with management yesterday, one day after thousands of WFSE members walked out and made our numbers heard.
To put it mildly, the walkouts worked.
This is what we’re supposed to do in years where the economics don’t look great. On top of that, the revenue picture will be uncertain until we see in November if the super-rich manage to give themselves a tax break by repealing the new Millionaires’ Tax.
Our walkouts generated significant media attention, with an estimated 8 million learning about our walkouts on TV, radio, print, and online.
“We’re talking about workers who are out here right now who have triple quadruple the workload they’re supposed to have," said WFSE Treasurer and DVYF employee Jeanette Obelcz.
"They’re committed to this work they’re committed to keeping the kids of Washington state safe what they’re saying is we need some support from our governor to be able to do that safely for ourselves and for the community.”

A Week of Action: Join us for One Last Push!
We may have a tentative agreement this week during our last two bargaining days, which are in-person with management Thursday and Friday at the L&I headquarters in Olympia.
As such, the tentative rally 9/5 in Olympia may not take place. We do, however, need to get loud one last time to get as much out of the state as possible.
Today, September 2 at 7pm: Learn more from WFSE Officers at Sip n' Solidarity
Join us for the second Sip n’ Solidarity Officer Hours with WFSE Treasurer Jeanette Obelcz who works at DCYF and WFSE Vice President Ashley Fueston who works at ESD.
There’s no agenda. Come and ask questions and hear answers.
September 3: Call the Gov in our "Great 2026 Call Bob-a-thon"
Call the Governor's Office any time from 8am to 5pm tomorrow Thursday, September 3 at 360-902-4111.
We're targeting the governor’s office to keep maximum pressure on the administration while bargaining is live.
Check out the flyer above for more information and a short script.
