We had a long day of intense conversation and deliberation, and we are encountering a great deal of inflexibility on even small and simple changes that would improve your working conditions. We have two scheduled bargaining dates left, and we are extremely concerned about the amount of resistance we are encountering to most of the language we have offered.

Management’s initial compensation proposal was disappointing, as is their refusal to consider both our proposals that they feel are “inconsistent” with other contracts and our proposals that would align our workplace protections with those of our WFSE siblings. We will be working on our response for tomorrow’s session, and we need to create all of the pressure that we can.

We want to thank all of you who participated in our listening sessions. We hear you, and we are fighting for you as hard as we can – but we need your help.

We are encouraging each and every one of you to participate in the Walkout With Washington on August 31st and make as much noise as you possibly can! We have strength in numbers, and we need to remind management that WE are their success. You can register here:

Walkout with Washington for Public Services - 8/31/26

Now is the time to stand together and make it clear that we are worthy of respect, and of a fair contract!
