The 2018 AFSCME NW Region Public Safety Conference will be held Saturday, March 10 - Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Vancouver Hilton. Located at 301 West 6th Street, Vancouver, Washington 98660.
This is an opportunity for Law Enforcement members to join with other LE union brothers and sisters at the Biennial AFSCME Northwest Public Safety Conference. Attendees will hear about issues important to public safety employees, discuss what’s going on around the Northwest, and hear advice to help deal with stresses encountered in a law enforcement or public safety career.
Saturday's program includes an all-day seminar “Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement.”
This session will address the dynamics that can transform, within a matter of a few years, idealistic and committed law enforcement officers/employees into cynical, angry individuals who begin having difficulties in both the personal and professional aspects of their lives.

On Sunday, there will be two workshops for attendees:
Workshop option #1= Emergency Preparedness for Your Home
We know that our work sites have Emergency Preparedness Plans. With everything going on in the world today, are you prepared at home? This workshop will help you with the information you need to have your own Emergency Preparedness Plan.
Workshop option #2 Recognizing Trauma – Signs and Symptom
Information will be presented on the signs and symptoms that someone may exhibit when they need help. Suicide, Alcoholism, and Depression hits our profession in very high numbers. This workshop can provide tools to help guide someone to get the help they need.

Please note that the Conference fee and travel accommodations for WFSE members attending the PSC Conference are an expense of the local and therefore will require approval before registration/ travel is confirmed.
The deadline for submitting RSVP + HOUSING + TRAVEL and the $75 conference fee is Friday, February 16, 2018.
After that date you will be responsible for making and paying for your own arrangements.
The Conference fee is $75 per person. The free covers admission to all sessions, conference materials and meals during the conference. Saturday evening dinner is not included.
