November 2025 Zev UPDATE

On 11/19/025, our Union Leadership and DOC Leadership met to follow up on the ongoing issues around our firearm.  Secretary Lang announced that DOC will not be rolling out the Zev pistol to the Community Corrections Division or the Re-Entry Division.  Secretary Lang further stated the agency is looking into an expedited process for the selection of a new duty firearm, which is also expected to be currently NIJ-certified.  He thanked the Union for working collaboratively with the agency during this last year and stated the Union would be involved in the selection process of the new firearm.  Your member leadership is soliciting members to participate in this process. Further, replacement parts have been ordered for our existing firearms, and the prison M&P’s will be moved into the community to address new staff armament and maintenance needs of our old firearms.  

We appreciate the DOC Leadership team for making the right choice and prioritizing our members’ safety and being receptive to our concerns.
