Negotiation of the 2027-2029 CWU Tentative Agreement (TA) has concluded.

As you all know, the budget deficit continues to grow, and compensation discussions were incredibly difficult as a result. Despite that, progress was made, we successfully fought off takeaways, and have secured a me-too to a reopener for compensation increased in the second year of the agreement.

Based on member feedback, your bargaining team leveraged the budget deficit to make every non-economic gain possible in these challenging budget times, and those gains are significant:

·  Key Economic & Healthcare Protections:

  • Defended and secured over $348.5 million in new funding to protect the current cost share.
  • Secured permanent special pay ranges (such as for plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters) and higher clothing/footwear allowances ($225).
  • Expanded leave protections, including 8 days of bereavement, 24 hours of disaster leave, and up to 21 days of paid military leave.

·  Major Non-Economic Wins: Strengthened contracting-out accountability, extended layoff notice timelines, established a process for formal workload support for unachievable tasks, added hate crime protections, doubled steward training release time, and streamlined grievance procedures directly to PERC for free arbitration.

·  Plus many more economic and non-economic improvements. Read more about the highlights:

Because of these achievements, your CWU Bargaining Team recommends that you vote YES toACCEPT this Agreement. A complete copy of the tentative agreement is available link to TA.

We want to thank you all for your hard work, research, job actions, and solidarity. Your strength makes all the difference! If you have questions, please visit a voting assistance center, contact a bargaining team member, or contact your WFSE staff.
