Big Win for Support Staff – with Back Pay

After a long fight to ensure administrative staff receive the respect and compensation they deserve, we have reached an agreement with the state that achieves everything we negotiated for at the bargaining table:
- Ensures that allocations for the Secretary Series and Paralegals at the AGO move forward as bargained, retroactive to July 1, 2025.
- Preserves every member’s right to challenge their allocation through the classification article of their CBA.
- Outlines clear steps for former Secretary Series members who wish to withdraw their reallocation appeal and be included in the settlement.
Who is this Agreement for?
The agreement applies to support staff members in the General Government contract (most state agencies), the Community College Coalition, and members at the Department of Corrections.
The open grievances with TESC and WWU are not resolved as part of this settlement and we are still pushing for a fair resolution.
The grievance that was originally filed with EWU was withdrawn as their allocations were handled correctly.

Where's the Complete Signed Agreement?
The complete agreement has been sent to impacted workers.
Have Questions?
WFSE is holding a virtual information session to go over the agreement on February 6 from 6pm to 7 pm. It has been sent to WFSE members.
We did it together

This win didn’t come out of nowhere. It was built on the strength of the admin-led Support Staff Support Us All campaign, which was fueled by support from fellow WFSE members from every job classification.
Our members do hundreds of different kinds of jobs – from fixing highways to tracking invasive species to keeping children safe. But we all have one thing in common: Our work doesn’t get done without administrative and support staff.
You stood by and supported our members as they unapologetically demanded a long overdue wage increase that reflected the value of their work.
When the agreement was not implemented correctly, you kept the pressure on and didn’t give up until our members got what they were owed.
Standing together and refusing to accept anything less than fairness.
It’s why WFSE members have been winning big across the state, from securing and protecting wage increases during the largest budget shortfall in state history to keeping our healthcare costs down when the legislature tried to jack them up.
Join us as we continue to speak up for our jobs, families and communities together.

Just like last year, our state is in a budget deficit. Cuts and new revenue are being proposed in Olympia during the 2026 legislative session that runs through March.
What gets passed into law will determine how much money we have to negotiate for when we enter negotiations this spring.
