Tacoma Community College 2020-2022 Collective Bargaining Agreement Ratification

Negotiations concluded August 25th for the 2020-2022 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The AFSCME/WFSE Tacoma Community College Exempt staff tentative agreement for the 2020-2022 contract achieves several major goals identified by the bargaining unit as priority items:

  • The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) ensures a 3% increase retroactive to January 1, 2020 – see Article 40; additional discrimination protections added for obesity and hair discrimination – see Article 2; management now required to provide 90 days’ notice for non-renewal of contract or must pay out the contract – see Article 6; sick leave accruals added for part time employees – see Article 14; extends Paid Family Medical Leave protections for qualifying circumstances – see Article 17; increased window to file grievances from 21 days to 28 – see Article 38; establish process for individuals performing duties in a higher paying position to receive appropriate compensation – see Article 44; plus there were notable improvements to other non-economic articles.
  • The contract HOLDS THE LINE ON HEALTH CARE COSTS with the current 85/15 premium rate. You will continue to pay 15 percent of your health insurance premiums.

Because of these achievements, your Tacoma Community College Exempt Bargaining Team recommends that you ACCEPT this Agreement.
