What We’re Looking For:

The WFSE is recruiting to fill a Lobbyist position in Olympia, WA with our Legislative and Political Action department. This position reports to the Director of Legislative and Political Action and is responsible for representing the interests and concerns of classified state employees before the Washington State Legislature, US Congress, and other policy-making bodies.

This position researches and analyzes public policy issues, prepares and evaluates legislation and supports the Federation’s political action program. This position develops, prepares, and facilitates trainings and workshop presentations and works with union members on legislative and political issues. Provides public policy and political advice to members and staff and may testify to the Legislature on behalf of the WFSE and its members.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years direct experience in legislative or political fields.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills and the ability to present to large audiences.
  • Critical thinking, good judgement, and the ability to manage high levels of stress.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science or related field.
  • Prior union experience.

 

Special Note:

This position is overtime exempt and evening and weekend work is required. Some travel will be required.  Benefits include monthly cell phone allowance, annual and sick leave, medical/dental, life, and long term disability insurance, and holidays. Salary range is $77,119 – $89,275 and will be determined commensurate with experience.
