Local 872

This is the official website for Washington Federation of State Employees Local 872. Our members work at the Washington State Department of Ecology in the Lacey Ecology Building and at the Thurston County Conservation District in Tumwater.

Workers in Missouri and New Mexico have chalked important victories against anti-worker laws that would have robbed them of their voices and the right to bargain collectively.

Assistant attorneys general in Washington state have formed a union through AFSCME to gain a voice in their workplace.

As many of us know, our state is transitioning to a new IT job-class structure for state employees. If the legislature funds it, as expected, this will be implemented in July of this year.

Across the state, fellow IT employees—and even IT managers—have expressed disappointment in the way the new IT structure is being implemented. Sign our petition to Assistant Director of State Human Resources Franklin Plaistowe. Let's make sure our work is not devalued.

As union members, we're stronger together. Union membership equals fair pay, affordable healthcare, and a secure retirement.
