Fellow interpreters,
Friday the 16th our bargaining teams was in mediation with the state where we proposed a substantial rates package that covered every single represented interpreter. We worked on until the very early hours of the following morning.
We meet again Monday the 19th where we will continue to fight for raises that will address widespread issues LAPs face including dealing with higher costs of living, having a consistent payment schedule, and receiving compensation for late cancelations/no shows and appointments ending early.
If the Office of Financial Management continues to fail to address the inequities in compensation we will be preparing for interest arbitration later this week (8/20 & 8/21).
You can help us by pressuring the Office of Financial Management, who we are negotiating with directly, and by extension the Governor's Office, to win a fair contract by taking the following action:
Text UNITED to 237-263 to receive a link to be connected with the Governor’s office.
Be sure to click the link when the Governor's Office is open 8am to 5pm, Monday through Wednesday. We need as many calls into the Governor as possible before August 21st!
In solidarity,
