Fellow Interpreters,
Late in July our bargaining teams met with the state where we proposed a substantial rates package that covered every single represented interpreter. We met again with the state on 8/2 & 8/5 where the state presented their counter to our rates proposal. The state’s counterproposal was completely inadequate for our members’ needs. If the state doesn’t adjust their position they will be creating an environment for a mass exodus of interpreters and short change those who rely on interpreting services.
This was their first rates proposal, we will continue to counter, fight, push, and raise the serious concerns we have about their approach. You can help us by pressuring the Office of Financial Management, who we are negotiating with directly, and by extension the Governor's Office, to win a fair contract by taking the following action:
Text UNITED to 237-263 to receive a link to be connected with the Governor’s office.
Be sure to click the link when the Governor's Office is open 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. We need as many calls into the Governor as possible before August 13th!
