On July 17th our bargaining team had its fourth bargaining session with the university. Across four sessions, we have introduced numerous proposals, on a variety of topics, including wellness, strengthening employee rights, and ensuring transparency and accountability for management. Additionally, we are preparing a robust economic proposal that seeks to ensure that WFSE-represented employees are fairly compensated for the hard work they do for EWU.
Unfortunately, over the course of these four sessions, the university’s bargaining team has been unwilling to seriously consider most of the union’s substantive proposals. While this is frustrating, we aren’t backing down and will continue to advocate for your priorities at the bargaining table.
Join us for one of several events taking place on campus this week (see below for details), and be sure to wear green on August 6th, for our next bargaining session with the university. In the meantime, stay tuned for more updates on how you can support your bargaining team and show EWU that we are standing strong for a fair contract!
