Strong State Services = Strong Communities for All Washingtonians
State workers are providing critical services that ensure the safety of our communities, children, and most vulnerable.
The Department of Agriculture inspects our fruit to ensure it is safe.
The Department of Health makes sure the food we buy is safe.
Labor and Industries ensures safety codes are followed to help Washington's workers stay safe -- so that they can get home to their families.
The Department of Corrections provides support for parents reintegrating into their communities and families.
Adult Protective Services ensures the safety of vulnerable adults.
The Department of Developmental Disabilities provide essential services so those with developmental disabilities of any age can thrive.
State Park Employees keep our state parks maintained for all to enjoy safely.

State Workers Need Your Help In Securing a Strong Contract
A strong contract goes beyond financial compensation.
A strong contract helps state workers stay safe on the job, secures services after critical incidents like staff assaults, and provides vital worker protections when staff speak out to keep the public safe and maintain services for every Washingtonian.

State Employees Face Critical Shortages
The Department of Corrections found that they are down 200 positions, and there is a backlog of 13,000 warrants out for people who have violated supervision.
A workload study found child welfare workers are in need of 400 additional staff right now for safe caseloads. It recommends CPS workers receive six new cases every 60 days, currently many receive a new case daily.
Workers injured on the job face delays in getting compensation because case managers at the Department of Labor and Industries can’t keep up with the workload.
There is a $1 billion maintenance backlog in our state parks. Costs balloon the longer projects are deferred, and in many cases prevent our parks from generating the revenue they should be generating.

I'm a resident of Washington and I believe our state employees deserve a fair contract...
A few options:
I rely on a DSHS worker for my food stamps.
We need clean and well-maintained state parks.
I want to keep our salmon and orcas protected.
DCYF caseworkers need safe staffing to keep kids safe.
I attend a community college or state university.
Fully funding our state now means we aren't spending money on preventable lawsuits.
It's hard to get help paying for childcare.
State employees should be safe at work.
