On September 4, your Bargaining Team resumed negotiations with CWU management and their Attorney. After exchanging several proposals, and some meaningful conversation the parties were able to reach a tentative agreement.
Although your bargaining team was not able to achieve everything they set out to accomplish, the tentative agreement does include several improvements that include but not limited to an increase to a large increase to footwear / clothing allowance, increase to the minimum wage rate, an additional personal holiday, an additional personal leave day, a base wage increase “floor” and a “me-too” with General Government related to a possible additional COLA and a lump sum/signing bonus.
Your bargaining team placed a strong emphasis on how valuable WFSE represented staff are to CWU and the work each of you perform every day is what makes CWU, CWU. And because of this emphasis the tentative agreement reached today is fully recommended by your bargaining team.
Remember—CWU works because we do!
So what’s next?
WFSE will be preparing the voting documents and will schedule dates for WFSE members to cast their vote. This information should be available within the next two (2) weeks.
“Although what was achieved during this round of bargaining is not everything we’ve hoped for, we made significant gains and created a path for the next round of bargaining with the intent to increase our professional development and a better work / life balance.” ~ Terll Stone, CWU Bargaining Team Member
