Since February, your Community College Coalition bargaining team has been hard at work preparing for bargaining and working through our proposals. This week, we met with management.
Unfortunately, they weren’t as prepared to hit the ground running as we were. Our team knows what’s at stake for our members.
We’re fighting for contract language that will improve equity and inclusion at our workplaces by improving the processes around discrimination complaints. We’re pushing for greater work-life balance, improving benefits, and more transparency in processes that affect members’ lives. We’ve prepared proposals that will make our contract easier to understand and enforce.
That’s not all. We’re here fighting for respect, for fair pay that will address recruitment and retention, and for more opportunities for professional development. But we can’t do it alone. We’re only as powerful at the table as we are united as union siblings.
Here’s what you can do to strengthen our bargaining position and help us achieve the strongest possible contract:
- Complete the bargaining survey to help us understand what you need most.
- Submit a picture and quote about why you deserve a raise to help get more members fired up for the campaign.
- Download the contract campaign toolkit and use the signs, Zoom/Teams backgrounds, and social media profile pics to bring attention to bargaining.
- Visit the contract campaign website for all this and to learn more about the negotiations process.
- Encourage your non-member coworkers to join so they can vote on our contract when it’s time and their voices can be heard.
