ABHS Bargaining Update 2/22/18

What’s Happening at the Bargaining Table?

Your WFSE/ABHS bargaining team met on January 8th to prepare a comprehensive proposal based on the needs expressed by you, the members at ABHS. Some of those needs include wages, health care, and safety concerns. The team met with management on February 13th and 22nd to push to achieve your bargaining priorities. We’ve reached agreement on two Memorandums of Understanding to address the gains in sick leave you won with the passage of Initiative-1433 and increasing the employer contribution rate for your medical effective March 1, 2018. We continue to negotiate over the language for your next contract and will go back to the bargaining table on March 9th.

Did You Know?

Many of you are probably wondering what happens if the current contract term ends without negotiations being complete for your next contract. Not to fear! Article 33.2 of your contract, “Term of Agreement”, states in part: “If this Agreement expires while negotiations between the Union and the Employer are underway for a successor Agreement, the terms and conditions of this Agreement will remain in full force and effect for a period not to exceed one (1) year from the expiration date.”

This means that all of the hard won terms of your contract remain in effect while your team continues to fight for a strong next contract!
