One of our leave bills passes Senate; headed for governor
Apr 12, 2017
4/12/17 SHB 1521 to allow state employees to use accrued vacation leave during the first six months of employment passed the Senate Wednesday (April 12) on a vote of 44-5. The Senate made no changes to the bill that previously passed the House. So it now goes to the governor for his signature into law.
The other leave bill, SHB 1434 to expand the shared leave program for pregnancy or parental bonding, did not come up for a vote of the Senate by Wednesday?s deadline for House bills to pass the Senate. However, SHB 1434 comes back for reconsideration in January when the second half of this Legislature returns to Olympia for their 2018 60-day session.
