No Senate Republican budget today; expected Tuesday
Mar 20, 2017
The Republicans who control the state Senate will not release their budget proposal today (Monday, March 20). The Senate Ways and Means Committee hearing today will be on other bills, not a budget bill.
We expect the Senate Republicans to unveil their budget plan tomorrow, Tuesday, March 21. We expect the Senate Ways and Means Committee Tuesday afternoon to deal with that budget bill.
If there is another change in schedule, we will update you.
Also this week:
Most of this week will be focused on the Senate Republican budget, expected to come out Tuesday, with hearings, a committee vote and a floor vote later this week.
There are a number of other legislative committee hearings and votes that we’ll update you:
The biggest non-budget hearing this week is Friday (March 24) when the Senate State Government Committee holds a hearing on three Federation-initiated or supported bills. The committee will take up: ESHB 1851, the Taxpayer Protection Act;
SHB 1434, the shared leave expansion bill to cover employees who are sick or temporarily disabled because of pregnancy disability, or for new-parent bonding; and
SHB 1521 to allow use of vacation leave in the first six months of employment. That hearing will be 8 a.m., this Friday, March 24, in Senate Hearing Room 2 in the John A. Cherberg Building on the Capitol Campus in Olympia.
